Excellent performance of anaerobic membrane bioreactor in treatment of distillery wastewater at pilot scale
نویسندگان
چکیده
A pilot-scale anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) was designed and optimized for the treatment of real distillery wastewater. low hydraulic retention time 3.5 days reached after only 3 weeks. The AnMBR could treat up to 3.97 gCOD/L/day with high biogas production at 1.36 NLbiogas/Lbioreactor/day. performances an packed-bed treating same wastewater were compared. had a shorter start-up period (21 days), higher COD removal efficiency (96.9 %), stability methane (0.26 LCH4/gCODinput), indicating interest investigating industrialization. performance also studied, demonstrating long cleaning cycle interval least 44 days. transmembrane pressure Food-to-Microorganism ratio defined minimize fouling without affecting digestion performance.

Anaerobic Treatment of Distillery Wastewater
The estimated global ethanol production in 2009 was about 74 mln m. After fermentation remains waste from bottom of distillation columns, termed stillage. This highly aqueous residue containing organic solubles is considered a troublesome and potentially polluting waste due to its extremely high BOD and COD values. Moreover, for each liter of produced ethanol 8 -15 liters of stillage are genera...

Limited available water resources have rendered wastewater reuse an important issue to specialists in most developed countries, today. The current study works on membrane filtration for treatment of industrial wastewater. By comparing the two methods of membrane bioreactor (MBR) and hybrid membrane electro bioreactor (MEBR) processes, it finds that earlier fouling in the membrane occurs in the ...

متن کاملEfficient treatment of baker’s yeast wastewater using aerobic membrane bioreactor
A membrane bioreactor (MBR) system based on a dead-end immersed hollow fiber membrane and filamentous fungus Aspergillus oryzae were used for treatment of baker’s yeast wastewater. The fungus was adapted to the wastewater in the bioreactor for two weeks before starting the continuous process. Average organic loading rate of 4.2 kg COD/m3.d was entered the bioreactor. MBR system was able to redu...
متن کاملAnaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) for domestic wastewater treatment
The effect of backwash frequency (15, 30 and 60 min) and influent flux (3.75, 7.50 and 11.25 L/h/m) on fouling amelioration in an innovative external side-stream dead-end microfiltration anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) for the treatment of domestic wastewater at 25EC was investigated. During 6 months of reactor operation, a constant COD removal of 88% and an accumulation of 350 mg TSS/L/d...
